What began as a Jewish mentorship experiment on a single university campus has quickly grown into a masterwork of Jewish engagement operating on 21 prominent college campuses across the country and beyond.
Launched in 2005, MEOR’s unique brand of Jewish leadership training, sophisticated text-based study and experiential education programming highlights the importance of Jewish values, identity and community. In just over a decade, MEOR has impacted more than 18,000 undergraduate students, encouraging them to connect with Judaism on their own terms and in their own time.
In 2016, MEOR established post-university programming to ensure that its alumni would have a familial Jewish framework for sustained growth as young professionals.
Now in its second decade, MEOR continues to ignite the Jewish flame within a new generation of young Jewish leaders who are hungry for community, continuity and connectivity.
Rabbi Meir Goldberg
Born and raised in NY, Rabbi Goldberg spent two years in Jerusalem and went on to receive his BA and MA in Talmudic studies from Beth Medrash Govoha in Lakewood, NJ, before founding Meor RJX in 2004, He enjoys discussing Torah, football (as a long suffering Miami Dolphins fan, Rabbi Goldberg hopes to see a Dolphin super bowl win before he has great grandchildren) and urban culture – not necessarily in that order – with Jewish students. Rabbi Goldberg’s infamous cholent he makes every Shabbat is currently being experimented with by Elon Musk as alternative energy source. He and his wife Estie reside in Lakewood, together with their children.
Rabbi Aharon Grossman
After graduating Yeshiva Shaar HaTorah in Richmond Hill, NY, Rabbi Grossman spent three years studying and teaching Judaism in Jerusalem. Returning to the US in 2003, he continued his studies for several more years in Beth Medrash Govoha, earning a leadership fellowship during his time there. Rabbi Grossman has given popular classes on authentic Jewish values and culture at various sites throughout New Jersey, and co-directs a yearly Jewish studies seminar in Santa Cruz, CA. He loves hiking, cross-country skiing, and sharing Shabbos meals with students and friends.
Rabbi Mitchell Jadidi
Serving as a dynamic educator for Meor RJX, Rabbi Jadidi brings his relationship-driven, growth-oriented message to the Rutgers community.
A native of Southern California, Rabbi Jadidi received his Bachelor’s degree in Cognitive Neuroscience from the University of California, San Diego and his legal degree from the NYU School of Law in Manhattan, New York.
His rise-and-shine, early-morning character development series has been the forum for hundreds of hours of engaging conversation centered on intellectual, emotional and social growth viewed through the timeless lens of Torah Judaism. One-on-one sessions with his students begin an organic process of open debate, heartfelt introspection and mutual growth, which serve as a springboard for developing a more tailored relationship of encouragement and guidance.
Rabbi Jadidi, along with his wife Chedva, and their two children Yosef Shlomo and Gila, wholeheartedly look forward to sharing their love for Torah, Jews and Israel at their Shabbat table and on numerous domestic and international trips that they lead.
Rabbi Shlomo and Rebbetzin Yehudis Cohen
Rabbi Shlomo hails from Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He earned his Rabbinic ordination at the Jerusalem Kollel from Rabbi Yitzchok Berkovitz.
As someone who has visited 15 different countries, Rabbi Shlomo is an avid hiker and traveler and also a good tennis match. He spent over 6 months volunteering in Belarus and really misses speaking Russian.
Rabbi Shlomo’s enthusiastic personality attracts people to what he really loves; Life and learning.
Born and raised a Brooklyn girl, Yehudis married Rabbi Shlomo in 2013 and they together moved to Jerusalem, Israel where she worked in the Crowe Horath accounting firm. Yehudis and Shlomo have three beautiful children together.
Yehudis loves to learn one on one with girls while always being there for anyone with her listening ear. Thanks to her great cooking skills, their Shabbat table is sure to be a great meal and great time.
Rebbitzen Esther Malka Goldberg
Esther Malka was born in Staten Island, NY but is a true Florida girl. She brings that Florida sunshine to the Meor RJX students daily.
Esther Malka attended FAU and was a licensed Realtor at the age of 19 years old. She was the youngest realtor in her county at that time. Later on, after taking some Jewish courses at FAU, with her passionate and adventurous personality she went to Israel, on her own, to learn more. What was supposed to be 1 year turned into 5!
Esther Malka has been with Meor RJX since 2016 with a one year hiatus which she spent in Jerusalem, newly married with her husband, Moshe. Esther Malka and Moshe now have two really cute boys and love hosting Shabbos meals in their home. We have an open door full of warm homemade challah, laughter, and of course Torah wisdom. Most of all, you can always find ‘EMG’ doing what she loves with a coffee in hand- connecting, learning, and schmoozing with the Rutgers girls. It brings her so much joy to learn about others and share her depth with them.
